Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: How do I order Big Creek Beef?

A: We are working to provide our customers an online option for Big Creek Beef order placement and payment, but as we are starting small we currently take orders via email at mikel.bigcreeklandandcattle@gmail.com  or by phone at (254) 749-3719.

Q: What happens once I place an order?

  1. We will check our inventory and let you know immediately if any items are out of stock so you can confirm what you want.

  2. Once confirmed, your order will be readied and you will be sent an invoice detailing everything.

  3. We will discuss and plan pick-up or delivery.

  4. Payment is due when you receive your order - we currently only accept cash or checks!

  5.  You get all your goodies home and make delicious meals with your beef while we look forward to seeing you again soon! :)

Q: Is the butcher shop we use USDA certified?

A: Yes! Our beef is processed in a USDA inspected and certified butcher shop right here in Central Texas. Each item is individually vacuum-sealed and labeled.

Q: How do we price our beef and what do we mean by "prices subject to market value"?

A: Each individual steak and cut of meat (aside from the ground beef packages) vary in weight depending how large or small the calf was and how the butcher cut it. This is why we do price-per-pound and not a set rate on each item.

"Prices subject to market value" simply means that as marketing trends change, our prices will reflect that - just as grocery store prices fluctuate. So check back frequently as you may find your favorite BCB products at a lower rate!

Our goal is to provide premium beef at competitive prices! Therefore, you will find our prices comparable to those you find at your typical grocery store for their all-natural, grass-finished, non-hormone beef options. Except with Big Creek Beef, you know exactly where it's coming from - straight from our pasture to your plate!

Q: How long does it take to get the meat once I order?

A: Individual Cuts - Once you place an order, depending on current inventory, we will have your order ready in 1-3 days for pick-up or delivery (details on that below).

If you purchase a half or whole calf, your beef will be ready for pick-up  approximately 4 weeks after drop-off date; drop-off date timeframe will depend on the butcher shop's schedule availability.

Q: How do I get my meat? Delivery Options.

A: We are currently unable to ship our Big Creek Beef - but we hope to add this feature in the future as we continue to expand!

Pick-up at the ranch - Call or email us to schedule a pick-up time in advance and we will have your order ready!

Delivery - We are still working out the most efficient delivery methods so give us a call or shoot us an email and we can make a plan accordingly!

Halves or wholes - Either picked up directly from the butcher shop or from the ranch with previous arrangements!

Q: Are our cattle fed anything other than grass at any point?

A: We utilize rotational grazing and no-till drilling to continually improve the quality of our native grasses - which is what our cattle primarily subsist on throughout their lives at Big Creek.

We do supplement with mineral, salt, and hay when necessary to ensure our cattle have all the necessary nutrients they need to stay as healthy as possible in all seasons, particularly when the grasses are lower quality in harsh winter conditions - the same as humans supplementing their diets with vitamins, minerals, and healthy nutrition!

Our calves are introduced to grain for a VERY brief time around weaning to get them used to coming to the feed truck in order to ensure stress-free penning and handling throughout their life at Big Creek Ranch.

Our beef is 100% grass-finished - meaning we DO NOT "feed them out" on grain before they are harvested for meat!
